1400. It’s a number I hit Sunday. If you’re wondering what the number 1400 means, I found my 1400th cache. I now have 1402. After eating lunch with my parents, and my sister, misspaula, I took her geocaching. I was wanting to wait until Saturday to get my 1400th, but yesterday was just to nice not to get out. It was in a park that I had been to a bunch of times. I have looked for this cache about two or three times. It had been missing, and the person that hid it, replaces it. I wanted to get there before it went missing again. It was called Down by the River.
The next one, Five Star B & B, was pretty close. It took a little while to find it, but I finally did. It was hidden well. The last one was No Parking PnG #8. It was another one that was really hidden good. I got lucky I found it as quick as I did.
It was a nice day to cache.
On Jan 1st, while some people were sleeping off their hangovers, I went geocaching. I met a friend, and we went to Turkey Mountain. It’s a big trail system in Tulsa for mountain biking and hiking. It’s an awesome place to do either. I actually haven’t ridden my bike on the trails yet. I’m afraid I will break something.
Anyway, back to our day. As of this post, there are nine caches at Turkey Mtn. One was hidden after we were out there. So, I have found seven of the nine. I’m going back in a couple of weeks to find the other two. We found two on this day. The first one was Curse of the FTF #13 T-Town. It took us a while to find it. My GPSr stopped working for some reason, it wouldn’t turn on. So I was using my Android, with the official geocaching.com app. It isn’t as accurate as my PN-40. It was a good hide.
The other one was Big Mouth. When we got close to the place where the cache is hidden, there was someone sitting on a rock. We walked a little farther on the trail. They finally left. It was a pretty easy one to find, even though it was a micro.
On Monday, the 2nd, I decided to find some more caches. I stopped along the Liberty Parkway Trail to find three caches. The first was hidden by a local cacher that has some pretty sneaky hides. This was one of them. I won’t tell what it is, just in case someone actually reads this. It’s called Liberty Trail. I finally found Boys Night Out – Cedar Ridge and Shake it, but don’t break it !!!
Then I stopped at Haikey Creek Park and found two more. Number 5 is Alive! – A Recycled Ground Zero cache and SQUANTO895’s Ammo Can #1. The first one here was hard to get for a short guy like me. It was a fun cache too!
By my last stop, Washington Irving Memorial Park, the sun was almost down. I found two here, and the first, 911 “10th Anniversary”, was pretty easy. My favorite cache of the day was my last one. It was called Derailed. It took the longest to find. After I thought I looked everywhere, I got a text from the cache owner, asking me if I was looking for it. I was just about done, and he told me an earlier finder told him it was off. Some other cachers had moved it to the wrong hiding place. I was climbing all over everything. I did find it, and well worth it. By the time I was walking back to my car, it was really getting dark.
I had a fun two days caching.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
I hope everyone had a happy and safe new year’s eve. I had a fun one. I actually stayed up late enough to see the ball drop! My girlfriend invited me to a party, so we went to a friend’s house to party the night away. Well, I was home by two.
Earlier in the day, we went to a wedding. One of her friends was getting married. I told her the last time I wore a tie, it was a knit tie. That was a long time ago.
On New Year’s Day, I got up early enough to attend church, well, Sunday School. It was fun. I haven’t been going so much lately, so I decided to start my year out by going to church. In the afternoon, I met a friend to geocache. I’ll tell about that in a different post. It was fun!
I usually don’t make new years resolutions, cause I know I won’t keep them. This year, I think I will.
My first one is, I want to get off my butt and exercise more. I want to run a 5K this year. I want to start the Couch to 5K program, and actually finish it.
Second, I want to get closer to filling out my caching calendar. I know I have a lot to do, and know I won’t get it done this year, but I can get closer. Below is a pic of my calendar as of today. The days with a 0 are the days I need to find a cache on.
And last, but the most important. I want to read the Bible through during the year. I have a One Year Chronological Bible I bought last year, but at different times, I didn’t get it read. I’m doing it this year!
What are your resolutions?
I know I’m late, but I wanted to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
I had a wonderful Christmas. Christmas Eve, I was off work this year, so I started the day out at LifeChurch in South Tulsa. I haven’t attended their Christmas service in a few years. Awesome service. After the service, I drove out to my girlfriends parents house to spend the rest of the day with them. It was a blast!
Christmas Day my family had our gathering at my uncles. Good food and it was nice visiting with my family.
Later that night I went to a hockey game. The Tulsa Oilers played the Wichita Thunder. It was a good game. Tulsa won 5-2.
I’ll tell about New Years in another post.
