Silver Dollar City Christmas

Silver Dollar City is a theme park in Branson, MO, just in case you haven’t heard of it.  My favorite time of the year to go is during their Christmas celebration.  This year, I went twice.  The last time, a couple of weeks ago, it was packed!

There are a ton of Christmas lights in the park.  I made a video of them, you can watch it here, SDC Christmas 2015.  I took some pictures too.

Thanks for visiting.

I told you!

There was a lot of rain.  These pictures are from my hometown of Sapulpa.

Way to much water in a park!

Normally, the bridge is 20-25 feet above the creek.

Another part of Sapulpa, a road full of water. Anytime they get a lot of rain, it floods.

It usually doesn’t take long before the creek recedes back into it’s banks.  Hopefully there wasn’t to much property damage.  In some places in Oklahoma the flooding was a lot worse.

A Lot Of Rain

It’s the day after Christmas, and it’s raining like crazy!

I know it’s a day late, but I want to with everyone a Merry Christmas.  I didn’t have a chance to post yesterday.  I actually had to work.  Boo!  Although I’m blessed to have a job, I really didn’t want to work on Christmas.

Earlier in the week, the weather guys around here kept saying it was going to rain this weekend.  I didn’t know it would be this bad.  I mean, it’s not the worst, but it’s pretty bad.  This is a picture looking out the front door of my apartment.

Yes, all of that is usually dry.  The middle of it is probably four or five inches deep.  I had a friend on facebook say she heard the tornado sirens, but I think her friends figures out it was flood sirens instead.

Anyway, my “New Years resolution” is to do more blog posts and more videos for my YouTube channel.

Play Ball!!!

Tonight was the opening night for the Tulsa Drillers.  I love watching baseball, so I had to make it out there.  I didn’t get off work until 6:30, and the game started at 7:05.  I did make it for the first pitch.  The National Anthem was being sung when I made it to the stadium.  I had to get my ticket before I could get in.  I had planned on getting a general admission ticket, but they were sold out.  That was okay, I still enjoyed the game.

The Drillers became the AA team for the LA Dodgers.  Oklahoma City became the AAA team for the Dodgers.  OKC changed their name for the Redhawks to the Dodgers.  I’m so glad Tulsa didn’t change their name too.  Tulsa Drillers sounds way better than the Tulsa Dodgers!

The Drillers across the chest is like the Dodgers.  They won, 10-4.  It was a fun game.

Thanks for visiting.  I know I haven’t been updating this very frequently.  Ill try to do better!

Photo Blogging Challenge, January 2015 – Winter

Wow!  I haven’t posted anything here since November!  I guess I better get to it.

This month, at PJ’s Photo Blogging Challenge, the theme of the month is winter.  This is a perfect theme.  Here in Oklahoma, and I think everywhere else in the US, we have gotten a lot of snow.  And when you think of winter, you always think of snow.

Okay, so on with the show…

1. Geocaching – Well, of course, I have to have a photo of some sort of geocaching.  This was a geocache hidden in a cemetery.  I couldn’t get a better picture, because the container was attached to the tree.

2. Basket – One day, after it snowed, I drove to Oxley Nature Center.  Oxley is in a big park that has two 18 hole disc golf courses.  I thought it was pretty cool to see this basket in the snow, with clean snow!

3. Avon Motor Court – I took a week off work, and went on a small geocaching trip.  I drove up Route 66 from Tulsa to Miami, OK.  This abandoned motor court is in Afton, OK, right inside town.  I’ve driven by it a dozen times, and most of them times, I’ve taken pictures of it.  This time there was snow!  So I had to stop and take another one.

4. Buffalo – On that same trip, just up the road a little ways are these big boys.  I’ve stopped here before, check my video out.

5. General Lee – What would one of my posts be without a car photo.  February is when the annual Darryl Starbird Car Show makes it’s way to Tulsa.  I took a bunch of pictures, but this was one of my favorites.

That’s my month.  I hope you enjoyed them.  I still can’t believe it has been four months since I’ve posted last.  I need to get with it!

Photo Blogging Challenge, October 2014 – Photographer’s Choice

It’s been a while since I’ve made a Photo Blogging Challenge post.  Way to long.  The month of October’s theme was Photographer’s Choice.  Go over to PJ’s ‘lil hoohaa blog, and check out other posts by other photographers.

1. My Birthday! – October is my birth month.  I took a week off work, and decided to go on a small camping trip.  I went to an awesome park in Arkansas, Devil’s Den.  This was the top part of a waterfall.  It has a footbridge between the top and bottom part of the waterfall.  It isn’t a very big one, but it is beautiful.  Picture doesn’t do it justice.

2. Dam – When people think of Devil’s Den, they think of this dam.  This dam was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps back in the 1930’s.

3.  Plymouth – If you have read some of my past post’s, you know that I like watching drag racing.  During the same week I was off, there was a big race here in Tulsa.  The Throw Down In T-Town.  A lot of fast cars.  For some reason though, they only run an 1/8 mile instead of the full 1/4 mile.  It’s still fun to watch.

4.  Oklahoma Open – Every October, Tulsa is over run by disc golfers.  They play in the Oklahoma Open.  It’s our chance to showcase our courses in Tulsa.  Paul McBeth and Eric McCabe were two of the Pro’s that played in the Tournament.  Here they are waiting for their turn.

5.  Putting – Paul McBeth is the current World Champion.  It was fun watching him play.  He’s putting here, and he made the putt.  He eventually won the tournament, in a three hole playoff.

I hope you enjoyed my choice photos.  Again, make sure you check out PJ’s Blog for other bloggers photos.

Celebrating A Birthday

Last week, we celebrated my sisters birthday.  Next week is my birthday.  Today, was a birthday party for a great aunt.  She is 88 tomorrow.

There were a bunch of people there to celebrate.  Even her son that lives in Hawaii was there.  It had been around 14 years since they had seen each other.  It’s so cool to hear old stories from my moms childhood.  There were also old photos.  Below is one of my mothers house when she was young.  I don’t exactly know when they moved in there.  I think she lived there during school, but not sure.  It’s still standing, but my grandpa added rooms on to it, so it looks different now.  They moved out of this a long time ago.  Now, there are houses built around it.

Here are some other photos that I seen today.  I had to take them with my phone.  I sure wish I had a portable scanner.

The first one, is of my mother, her siblings, and cousins.  She is the second from the left on the top row.  This was taken at Mohawk Park, in Tulsa.

It was a good day catching up with family I don’t get to see very often.  I love old photos, I will hopefully add more in the future.  And, Happy Birthday Betty!

Oxley Wildlife

Wow, again, it’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on here.  I’ve been posting videos on YouTube, and not even have thought about this blog.  I thought I would start doing both.

Last Sunday, I wanted to get out and take a walk.  As I’ve probably said before, there are two places that I love to take walks at.  One is Turkey Mountain, the other is Oxley Nature Center.  I decided to head out to Oxley.

I took my point and shoot camera, but I wish I had taken my DSLR.  I think I got some good shots with my little camera anyway.  I also shot some video too.  Here are some pictures I took.

Armadillo
I found this little guy on a trail. He didn’t care at all if I was near him. Watch the video below.
This is the first time I've been able to photograph a frog like this. They usually jump before I see them.

Photo Blogging Challenge, June 2014 – Vehicles

When I first seen the subject “Vehicles“, I thought it would be pretty easy.  I love going to races and car shows and stuff like that.  I did go to them too.  For some reason, I didn’t take many pictures.  These are the pictures I have.

1.  Tulsa ToughTulsa Tough is a bike race that invades Tulsa for three days a year.  This year it was June 6-8.  It’s so fun to watch.

2.  Pace Car – This is another photo from Tulsa Tough.  It’s the pace car for the criterium races.

3.  Pink Emergency Vehicles – This photo speaks for itself.  Here in Tulsa, some of the police cars, fire engines, ambulances, and even city buses are pink.  This was at a Tulsa Athletics soccer game.  They painted these for breast cancer awareness.

4.  A Suzuki? – I haven’t seen one of these in a long time.  I can’t remember the name of it.

5.  Diesel Drag Car – Okay, this was the weirdest drag car I have ever seen.  I had never seen one before.  You should have seen the black smoke pouring out of it!  I guess they have a whole day of racing these.  When they advertise diesel drag races, I pictured big semis racing.  I guess this would be better.

I hope you enjoyed my photos.  I don’t know what July’s subject will be, but I’m ready for the challenge.  Check out the other challengers from June, at PJ’s Photo Blogging Challenge.  Join us in July!
